EXCLUSIVE: Mein Kampf With Adolf Hitler’s Autograph Sold For $65,000
Two volume set of Nazi manifesto Mein Kampf (My Struggle), by Adolf Hitler, has been sold at Los Angeles auction for $64,850.
This set, the same as the first edition, was inscribed by Hitler to Josef Bauer, one of the early Nazi party members and officer of SS. The words inscribed on the books were Christmas wishes to Bauer.
Online bidding took place Thursday night and started at $20,000. This set received 11 bids in total. The buyer chose to remain anonymous.
The book was written in 1923, when Hitler was in prison for participation in a failed putsch attempt. The book deals with Hitler's rails against communism and Judaism. Both books were published in 1925 and 1926, prior to Hitler becoming the chancellor of Germany. In Nazi Germany, copies of this book were presented to all newlyweds.
Interesting fact that now the copyright owner of the books Mein Kampf is the German state of Bavaria, and as it was informed, that a project of a new edition of the book with comments and demystifications will cost 500,000 euros. This project has been postponed due to respect of the victims of Holocaust.
